AP CHEMISTRY TEACHER DEVELOPMENT INSTITUTE ONLINE
AP CHEMISTRY TEACHER DEVELOPMENT INSTITUTE ONLINE is being offered at Southeast Missouri State University for the first time in Summer 2003.
This 45-hour online course is intended for teachers designing Advanced Placement high school chemistry courses or who will teach existing courses. Initially, participants will be introduced to the AP Chemistry course requirements and the format of the AP Chemistry exam through the College Board Materials. Modules on five different chemical topics will be covered. Participants will develop lesson plans on these topics. Problems and questions from previously released AP exams will be used to relate the course content to the concepts and principles addressed by the exams. The heart of the course will be the development of nine laboratory experiments by the participants that meet the College Board requirements for recommended laboratories. Participants will be required to perform two of the developed experiments in laboratories at their schools. Five of the laboratory experiments will be tied to the topical modules. Finally, the teachers will be required to develop an AP course syllabus. See complete syllabus.
