Graduate Assistant Guidelines

| The Department of Chemistry currently has a
GA budget allocation to accommodate eight (8) graduate assistants. Graduate Assistants are expected to show up
on time for all assigned GA duties, to perform their assigned duties to the
best of their abilities, and to treat their supervisors, laboratory
students, and fellow graduate students with courtesy. We also expect
that you report immediately to us any situations that have resulted in a
hostile, threatening, or otherwise unpleasant work environment for you. Also, please note that GAs must maintain at least a 3.0 grade point average and have no more than one (1) grade of 'C' in order to remain on assistantship. The School of Graduate Studies is very strict about that requirement, and they will terminate your assistantship immediately if you fail to meet these conditions. If you are interested, you may want to consider joining the Graduate Student Advisory Council (GSAC). The GSAC serves as a liaison between the graduate student body and graduate faculty and administration. The GSAC also makes recommendations for allocations of Student Professional Development and Research Funds. The GSAC's mission is to act as a voice for the graduate student body. In the future, a link may be added to this page enabling you to check your semester GA assignment online. Very specific information, policies, and procedures concerning Graduate Assistants may be found in the Graduate Assistant Handbook located on the website of the School of Graduate Studies. Please defer to this publication in matters related to your Graduate Assistantship and the rights, privileges, and responsibilities thereof. |
