This page will link you to an Investigative Case-Based Problem Space (ICBL) in Ecology for the high school classroom. ICBL allows students to connect more fully to a topic and help to create their own learning environment because they are encouraged to use the case to determine what they need to know to help the characters solve a problem or answer a question. For more information please visit http://cstl-csm.semo.edu/waterman/CBL/index.html
This case was developed for my high school Biology 1 and Ecology classes during a graduate course BS618 "Topics in Biology Education" at Southeast Missouri State University taught by Dr. Margaret Waterman. It is intended to teach student about the 5 major biomes of the continental United States: Temperate Deciduous Forest, Grassland, Desert, Taiga, and (Alpine) Tundra.
Please feel free to use this Case in your own classroom, just be sure to give me a little credit and let me know how it works for you by e-mailing me at cdaniel@oran.k12.mo.us
Road Trip Part 2 "Succession Success" is under construction.
